3 Years at the Tree of Life

by Courtney on December 1, 2009

Three years ago today, I arrived to the little town of Patagonia and the Tree of Life. The dynamic of the Tree of Life felt very odd and foreign to me: a raw food center and community in the middle of nowhere in the desert, outside a tiny little town of 800 residents.
A drive up a windy, rocky road to the foot of a mountain lay the Cafe, stands a cute strawbale structure alone amongst the high desert grasses, cacti, and mesquite trees, with a panoramic backdrop of Red Mountain. This was a peculiar and surreal surrounding to transition from, into a cafe with buffet tables overflowing with gourmet raw food. It was so inspiring, relieving, and once again, surreal, to all of a sudden be surrounded with people who didn’t question what you were eating and were always ready to talk about superfoods and meditation.

Time has indeed flown, and the growth I have experienced here, personally, physically, spiritually, professionally, and socially, has been profound. I have been blessed with incredible friendships and aquaintances, experienced amazing physical transformation, and linked in with a sense of spiritual connectedness.

I don’t want this post to sound like a nostalgic farewell letter, so I’ll just stick to that. It’s been a fantastic 3 years :)
