Back on the Juicy Wagon - Juice Feast Day 1

Hellooooo darlings! I am back in Patagonia after a great weekend in Park City, Utah. I went snowshoeing, one of my more favorite physical activities, for several hours up a mountain in Park City. I am currently moderately fit, eventually to be ridiculously-over-the-top fit, and I had forgotten how much elevation plays a part. The peak was about 8,000 feet in elevation and it surely had me working my darling lungs all good-like. I'm reminded of why we whooped the booties of other swimmers from *ahem* lower elevation cities.

That evening, my father, step-mother and I went to Omar's Rawtopia, Utah's only raw food restaurant, located in Salt Lake City. Rawtopia's founder, Omar Abou-Ismael, was one of my very first mentors on my raw path. Omar comes from a long line of Lebanese chefs, and so his raw food is regionally and culturally inspired in dishes such as his incredible raw versions of hummus, falafels, and tabbouli. His use of herbs and spices, including some ones I've never even heard of, is one of his signature marks. The prices are fantastic for the size of the portions, as compared to many other raw restaurants I have been to.

We ordered three of my favorite dishes, the Hummus Platter, the Spicy Curried Seaweed Rolls, and the Falafel Salad. We also ordered the Chocolate Goji smoothie and for dessert, the Chocolate Fruit Creme Pie. It was my stepmother's first raw food meal ever, and she adored it, exclaiming to my father, "We have to come back here! Soon!!"

Today, I am back on juices. I am still choosing not to include oils as is permitted in Juice Feasting, but the last few P90X workouts I did before leaving were a little challenging on just juice, so I am going to include some bee pollen. Day 1 I had:

32 oz. orange/grapefruit juice
18 oz. cucumber/celery/greens/lemon juice
1 T Jarrah bee pollen
28 oz. parsley/apple/pear juice (adore adore adore adore and did I mention I adore? Parsley.)
24 oz. cucumber/celery/greens/lemon juice
18 oz. orange/grapefruit juice

Total: 120 oz. A full gallon! Yay!

Au revoir,
Courtney
