How to Get Gorgeous Skin

You don’t need a bunch of products to make your skin glow. Advertising would like you to think all you need is the perfect combo of their 5, 10, or 500 products to have flawless skin. So flawless in fact, that yours will match the airbrushed quality of their models’ skin!

Sarcasm aside, really – you don’t need much, and skin health isn’t only about what you put ON your skin. It’s mostly about the health and terrain of your body and how that reflects in your skin, from the inside out.

You can have skin so gorgeous that you don’t need makeup or any kind of products at all. Nature designed all our parts (skin included) to naturally be healthy and beautiful.

Here are some tips that everyone, no matter who you are, can implement to have youthful, smooth, evenly-toned, gorgeous skin:

What You’re Putting in your Body

This is the number one factor, folks. By far. I recommend a completely plant based diet with tons of fresh vegetables. Eat fresh greens every day, whether that is in the form of fresh green juice, green smoothies, green soups or salads, eat at least 1 lb of greens in each day, if you can. Also, focus on minimal sugar. Too much sugar can make you break out. Toss the white sugars and any kind of refined sugars. Emphasize stevia and use fruit to sweeten. Truly raw honey, coconut nectar and maple syrup are higher glycemic but better than white sugar; use them sparingly. Consider a gluten-free diet as gluten can contribute to skin imbalances for many people. Also experiment eliminating other common allergens, such as soy (though organic, fermented may be fine), dairy, and corn. Lastly, make sure you’re taking in probiotics in the form of homemade fermented foods, such as saurkraut, kim chee, fermented coconut kefir yogurt and fermented coconut kefir water.

H20

Drink the best water you can find. I recommend at least 3 liters per day for any person, and upwards of even 6 liters for tall, big guys.

Beauty Sleep

The body rebuilds between 10am and 2am, with the hours of 10-12 being particularly important. Getting to sleep early and allowing for a full night’s rest, most if not all of the time, is crucial for skin health.

Other Practices

  • Regular Juice Cleansing – fasting is the ultimate anti-ager. When paired with colon cleansing, it’s the fountain of youth for your skin.

  • Liver/Gallbladder Flushes – the liver and gallbladder health also affects the skin radiance.

  • MSM – MSM is a form of sulfur which occurs naturally in nature. It helps to build the skin, hair and nails.

  • Beauty Foods – examples of these are aloe vera, watercress, and macadamia nuts.

  • Meditation, yoga, and other relaxation activities – studies have confirmed that regular meditation can correlate to better skin, partially due its supporting of youthing mechanisms in the body.

  • Spirulina – My skin has definitely improved by eating spirulina. Chlorella can have similar benefits. I eat 1-3 tablespoons per day (note – my body tends to need more protein)

  • Dry Skin Brushing -dry skin brushing stimulates circulation, moves the lymphatic system, and sloughs off old, dead skin layers.

  • Don’t use soap – this ends up wiping out positive bacteria on your skin and can actually make your skin worse. Try out not using a cleanser other than water for a few weeks. Personally, I use only water to cleanse and coconut oil to moisturize.

  • Infrared Sauna – sweating out toxicity is a great way to detoxify, which always leads to younger looking skin, but also, it allows for the skin to shed off its outer dead layers more easily. Best thing ever? Skin brush while you’re in the sauna, and/or afterwards.

  • Simple stuff – Don’t touch your face. Never sleep with makeup on.

  • Laughing – do it often, every day, multiple times per day

There are a lot of factors that contribute to alleviation of skin imbalances and the creation of beautiful skin, and some will always be individual. For example, some people may need to look into whether they have hormone imbalances, specific deficiencies, etc.
