My Fall 2012 Juice Feast – Update on Day 5!

Drinking juice at JarBar

Drinking juice at JarBar

Yes, I have been Juice Feasting for the past 5 days! I like to do some Juice Feasting every 3-6 months as a tune-up. Much like tuning up your car or your instrument, the body needs some tuning and maintenance. Though we may eat very well, we still take in toxins through the air, water, things we put on our skin, things we touch. Beyond that, even, our organs need some rest and deep-cleansing here and there. How long will I go? I haven’t decided yet — I like to leave it up to intuition, but for at least 7 days.

Though I’ve done about 173 days of cleansing over the past 7 years, the first few days are tough even for me! The first day, the dialogue in my head consists of a little bit of back and forth about whether to continue drinking juice or just to succumb to that delicious looking seaweed salad and start tomorrow. I feel a little grumpy at times on the first two days, too. I don’t take those thoughts nearly as seriously now though, and know that all I really have to do is be patient and take care of myself, hour-by-hour. I’m blessed that my girlfriend Sarah has made me so much juice, and that I’ve been able to enjoy some juice from Jar Bar, Philadelphia’s only raw food cafe and juice bar.

By Day 3, I felt wonderful, as I usually do by that day. My cravings fizzle, my mind is sharp, I feel receptive to creativity, and I have a little inner smile going on about the fact that my body is busy housecleaning and is very happy about getting a chance to do that. I go about absorbed in the unique bliss that is post-enema.

Today, on Day 5, I feel like the energy is flowing wonderfully in my body. I have a greater sense of harmony and I have lots of energy. I’ve been walking to farmers markets to stock up on lots of gorgeous organic local veggies, cleaning house (the other one; the one my body-house lives in), writing, and painting.

It is sweet to talk every day with my current Juice Feasting clients and have that extra little bit of comraderie in knowing we’re both on a juicy journey.

I’m feeling magically connected to autumn on the east coast whilst doing this cleanse. I think any season is a good one for Juice Feasting, but autumn has always been enchanting for me and I feel extra connected to nature and it’s cycles by honoring my own cycles and the seasons of my own body – and right now, that cycle is cleansing. The trees haven’t turned colors yet, but fall is in the air and I’m finding a cleanse to be really perfect paired with the change.

I’ll check in with y’all about my Juice Feast in a few days!

Love,

Courtney
