Pineapple Green Smoothie – A Radical Radiance Recipe

Hi again! I’ve been on a kick with this green smoothie for a few days now; I can’t get enough! I thought I’d share it with you, too. It’s a bit more of a fruity smoothie, but works well for pre-workout, which is what I planned for this morning. I personally find my body can handle fruit well if I don’t combine too many other types of foods with it, and if I also get some good dark greens somewhere else in the day. This smoothie makes me think of spring, and even though it’s still a little chilly outside, I know it’s going to be a staple for the hot summer weather that is slowly approaching!

7-day Juice Feast Blog by Mary Ann:

I am an emotional eater. I love chocolate and alcohol – ugh. I have been trying to figure out why I choose to “numb out” and decided that a Juice Feast would help me find the answer. My goal is to unhook from sugar, let my body heal and my cravings cease. And start the road – again – to losing the 40 pounds that HAVE NO BUSINESS ON MY BODY! (Whoa, that sounded a bit angry.) What a thrill to be starting this Feast with the wisdom and guidance from Courtney, who coached me through 21-days of juice feasting last March. I had such fun filling my cart with produce as I got ready to plunge into Day One. Tip: Clean out the fridge before you go shopping – it’s a ton of veggies!

Red Bell Pepper Green Juice: A Radical Radiance Recipe

Red Bell Pepper Green Juice: A Radical Radiance Recipe

Bell pepper is one of my favorite things to make juice with. I think it tastes good with almost anything! It adds just a tinge of sweet but really isn’t high-glycemic at all. Yum! This juice still is green when it’s done because it just has 1 red bell pepper in it, but feel free to try it with more!

My January 2014 Juice Cleanse: Days 5-7

I have finished my January week-long Juice Cleanse and am glad that I did it! If you didn’t catch my recap of Days 1-4, you can read about it by clicking here. I actually found it to be the easiest winter juice cleanse I’ve done; the cold weather didn’t bother me so much this time around. I just bundled up and used a lot of blankets, and hey, who can say that’s not cozy?

My January 2014 Juice Cleanse: Days 1-4

I have embarked on my first juice cleanse since I moved to Colorado, and this is also the juice cleanse which, as of today, will officially put me over 200 days of juice cleansing total. That’s over about 8 years, but still a big number when I look at it. Those 200 days have been some of the more transformating of my life, partly because of the physical healing, and partly because of the emotional healing.

Reddish Beet Kale Green Juice – A Radical Radiance Recipe

Reddish Beet Kale Green Juice – A Radical Radiance Recipe

Though this juice is reddish because of the beet, it is a green juice! And it can be fun to introduce people to green juice through juices with beet, because the color isn’t as repulsive as when it’s green. It’s really just placebo, but it’s awesome!

“Snow Shake” Green Smoothie – A Radical Radiance Recipe

I unintentionally made a very festive smoothie the other day and I decided to re-create it and record all the quantities for you! This is a thick (thought you could make it any consistency you like), really satisfying treat. I say treat because it has a fair amount of fruit in it, but also SO much spinach – a really good greens hit!

Green Juice With Carrot – A Radical Radiance Recipe

Green Juice With Carrot – A Radical Radiance Recipe

Today I decided to go for something a little darker green than my last juice recipe (Parsley Punch Green Juice), with just a little carrot to sweeten. This definitely tastes green, but is oh-so-good for you! It is the kind of green juice, however, that probably wouldn’t be as good if it’s been sitting for a while, so I would recommend drinking this one straight away if you can.

Parsley Punch Green Juice: A Radical Radiance Recipe

Hello again, friends! I woke up to a sunny autumn morning and had the joy of getting some new plants for my home. Included is a new plant I’ve never had called a Goldfish, which I’m utterly in love with. As in, I think it’s so pretty I coo at it when I walk by. It is a great morning to make a delicious green juice and share the recipe with you!

My June Juice Cleanse, Days 1-4

Happy and thirsty! This is how I’m feeling on Day 4 of my Juice Cleanse! I do a juice cleanse seasonally, and though I always love and appreciate it, it sure is so nice to do one when it’s warm outside. Philadelphia, where I currently reside, is not only warm but humid, which makes it all the more easy to eat/drink lightly.

Luckily for me, I adore parsley and cilantro so much that getting in lots of leafy greens for my juice is quite easy. For my higher-glycemic allotment, straight-up fresh orange juice is by far my favorite. When I want to go a bit lower sugar, I’ll mix some grapefruit and orange together. I did make a strawberries and fresh mint juice for my fruitier juice one day! Now that’s decadence.

My March Juice Cleanse, Days 1-4

I am chuckling at myself because every time I post the first blog of my juice cleanses every few months, I am always compelled with starting off by talking about the weather. Sigh…  Anyways, the weather is gorgeous and has been in the 50’s here in Philadelphia. It really feels like Spring and this feels like a Spring Juice Cleanse!

Guest Post: Brandi’s 21-day Juice Feast

My name is Brandi, I’m almost 38 years old and I live in Hawaii! I’ve been thinking about doing some sort of cleanse for about the last 9 months, but really since my son was born in 2008! Only just now am I finally ready to commit to the process. After great thought, I have decided that 21 days of green juice, with the support of a juice coach like Courtney, is just what I need to get clear, lose weight, find inner peace, have sustained energy, and replace negative food patterns with a whole new way of plant-based eating. I am ready to have a new outlook on life and the way I eat and to feel better than I have in a very long time. The first step of a long journey is a deep cleanse with green juice. A flush that will purify my organs, brighten up my eyes, and heal my entire body with extraordinary, unmatched nutrition. I am so ready for this and I cant wait to see where this journey takes me!

My December Juice Cleanse, Days 1-5

Hi, readers! I have begun my next juice cleanse. As you’ve likely read before, I do a 7+ day juice cleanse ever 3 – 6 months. This one is just slightly prior to my 3 month mark, but I’ll be traveling back home for the holidays soon and wanted to get it in before then. The first couple days were quite smooth, with some minor classic detox symptoms, such as energy swings and cravings, that usually subsided after a trusty enema. These days, when I cleanse, I start to feel the “fasters high” very quickly. I have rekindled my obsession with parsley juice this time around, too. I just adore parsley. Cilantro is another favorite, but the smell and taste of parsley makes me want to write poems of herbalicious passion.

How to Juice Cleanse in Cold Weather

Can you Juice Feast when it’s cold outside?

Yes!

I have done many Juice Feasts during cold weather, including the tail end of my 60-day Juice Feast, which went through a December. Many fasting centers still offer juice fasts during cold weather and many people all over the world have completed successful Juice Feasts when it is cold outside. All you need to do is take some extra measures! You might be able to do just a few of these things, or you may need to do all of them. Thus far, my clients who have done every single one of these steps have been totally fine.

Why You Deserve To Change Your Diet

Why You Deserve To Change Your Diet

In my recent blog post, I wrote about how to talk to people who are not supportive of your cleansing. This week, I want to take things a little deeper, or perhaps, back-track a little. The post was based on what I tell my clients who are doing Juice Feasts and who are concerned about the less-than-supportive friends, coworkers and loved ones they may encounter. By the time my clients come to me for coaching, they may still feel nervous about telling people around them that they are changing their diet or doing a cleanse, but it is not enough to keep them from moving forward and making the changes.

Guest Post: Josefin’s 7-day Juice Feast

“You are doing a what!?”

This question is one I have now answered about ten billion times this past week, and is exactly what I would have asked myself a year ago. “A Juice Feast” is the correct answer, and was something I had never heard of before my host family in Florida introduced me to their juicer during a visit last summer. Back then I didn’t really buy the concept of not eating, which goes against everything I had learned about health growing up in Sweden.

Telling Unsupportive People That You’re Cleansing

Do people give you a hard time about juice cleansing? Or, if you are considering doing your first cleanse, are there individuals who would?

It might be our partner, our parents, our child(ren), our best friend, or our coworkers. Some of us face minimal resistance, such as one parent being slightly concerned (“Honey, are you sure this is a good idea?”) but you only talk with them once every couple weeks anyways. Many of us face far more intense resistance from people we might be around daily. Some of us have people around us who will be plain nasty and rude about it.
