60 Day Juice Feast – Day 11

Today’s Feast, in order of consumption:

1 TBS bee pollen

20 oz. apple juice w/ 1/2 TBS MSM
2 TBS E3 Live
32 oz. green juice w/ lemon, cayenne & turmeric
20 oz. green juice w/ lemon, cayenne & turmeric
10 oz. water w/ 2 TBS Pure Synergy
24 oz. apple/spinach/cranberry/ginger juice w/ 1 TBS Hemp Oil
16 oz. coconut waterAwesomeness! It’s always so satisfying to look back on what I’ve had each day and know how much super nutrition I’m getting!! Today I had quite the pleasant surprise – Blair Boudousquie and fellow juice feaster showed up at our Tree of Life Cafe at brunch today! I first met Blair when he came to the Tree of Life several months ago. He’s been in California doing his juice feast so it’s been a while since I’ve seen him, and he gave us a surprise by showing up today, as he’s passing through the area! Blair is on day 27 of his juice feast! He may not notice it, but I noticed a difference in him right away since I last saw him before he started juice feasting – he is glowing – his skin, eyes, hair all look radiant. There’s something about his energy that is different as well – as I expect happens with most people when they’re doing something as transformitive as a 92 day juice feast – he carries a more powerful presence which seems more light, wise, and soothing.I hope somebody will be able to say the same thing about me on day 27 (wink ;)When I was drinking my water and Pure Synergy tonight, I reminisced about what a strong aversion I had to green powders when I was first getting into the natural health field. I remember the first green powder I tried was probably three years ago – one by Dr. Schulze, although I don’t remember the name of it. I couldn’t even drink it – I couldn’t seem to avoid triggering my gag reflex anytime I tried to. I would have to make orange juice and only put a tiny amount of the powder in it – maybe 1/2 TBS, and then I’d have to CHOKE it down. The same thing happened when I tried Nature’s First Food,right when I’d just read Eating for Beauty, by David Wolfe. I remember being ultra confused, thinking “Is there a mistake? Is it SUPPOSED to taste this horrendous?”. The point I’m making with this story is how amazing it is that taste buds change so much when you purify your body and start living more naturally. I can now easily just put huge amounts of Nature’s First Food or any other green powder in water and it tastes so mild, I have no aversion to it whatsoever…

The craving for spirulina salad is still as present as ever. I’m not tempted to actually eat anything, of course, but it’s interesting that spirulina salad is what I think about most, if I think about food. Just something simple, like greens, sprouts, spirulina, and some hemp oil. It’s funny, because I would have thought that I’d be craving more of the comfort foods (within the raw food world, of course), such as raw nuts and seeds, raw chocolate treats, some of that heavier stuff… but no, all I crave are sprouts and spirulina… I suppose that must not be such a bad thing ;)

I’ve been dealing with a lot of emotions coming up today. For the first time in my life, perhaps, I’m now not using food to cushion that which I need to deal with. There is no food to comfort me, create distance, or to distract, and so I am left with only myself and my feelings. It’s wonderful, of course, because I am discovering so much and becoming much stronger. It’s also really intense though, and often uncomfortable. I am realizing how much I think we, myself included, avoid having to totally sit with our feelings and process what we need to. It can be uncomfortable and frightening to do it, but now that I am, I have a sense of something very liberating, empowering and confidence building about knowing that its only me and what’s present that needs addressing – even if I don’t know how exactly I’m going to resolve it.

And with that, this juicy gal is pining for a juicy and satisfying sleep, so ciao darlings!
