P90x Home Fitness Program – Week 1 Update

by Courtney on July 29, 2009

The shifting of my getting up/going to bed times, due to the P90X has felt awesome. I’m now going to bed around 9:30 – 10:00 and getting up a bit prior to 6am. Having had a few hours of being awake, including a fantastic sweaty workout prior to going to the Tree for the day’s (awesome) tasks, makes such a big difference in my energy, attitude, and focus during the day. I feel more centered, and empowered from having already achieved something powerful by 8am.

I was super sore for the first 5 days. There were points I was so sore I could barely walk, or barely sit down, or sit up, or bend over.. depending on which muscles I had so fantastically worked recently. This morning’s workout was the 6th in a row, marking the end of week 1, and the soreness is very minimal.

I am doing the workouts every day with my friend Thim, and that really, really makes a big difference. It’s great to be able to encourage and push each other. I highly recommend doing this with at least one other person who is committed to the full 90 days, if you can. The workouts are incredibly difficult physically, but diverse and often fun. The instructor, Tony, is very motivational.

During the workout, we’ve been downing a drink of water, with some aloe vera juice, pomegranate concentrate, Polar Mins, NCD Zeolite, Pure Radiance C, and raspberry chocolate stevia.

Right after, we usually take a shot of E3 Live. After that, an epic superfood smoothie. These smoothies may consist of as many or few, ingredients as follows:

Base:

  • Lots of water
  • Bananas
  • Berries
  • Sesame mylk

Other goodies:

  • Chia seeds
  • Hemp seeds
  • Hemp protein powder
  • ‘Sun Warrior’ protein powder
  • Xylitol
  • Bee pollen
  • Nature’s First Food or Pure Synergy
  • Coconut flakes
  • Lecithin
  • Raw Honey
  • Maca
  • Coconut oil
  • Vanilla powder
  • Stevia
  • ‘Raw Power’ protein powder

I tend to make mine a little lighter and with less fat, whereas Thim is making them thick and heavy because he is bulking up. There have been some days where I’ve been in a hurry, so I’ve put a bunch of the superfood powders in a little bag and dumped them in diluted sesame mylk made by the TOL Cafe, and that’s been my breakfast.

These workouts have been feeling so good, that I wonder how I have been in the raw movement for years and not exercised vigorously.. what was I thinking?
