Green Juice Fast Days 4-6

Daaaaaaaaaay SIX!  Can you tell I’m feeling good?  Yes, feeling good.  Great, in fact.  Days 4 and 5 were really smooth and easy.  All the days through day 5, I was impressed to notice that not only did I feel focused and creative, I felt more focused and creative, and could stay that way for more hours in a day than I normally can.  Often I hit a point after a certain amount of hours of focusing intellectually and/or creatively where my capacities for effectiveness in both those areas fall away a bit.  Not since fasting.  I’ve been really productive this week, felt really enthusiastic about my projects, and felt like my creative channel is much more open.

This morning, however, started off more intense.  It was the most detoxification symptoms I’ve experienced all week.  It wasn’t physical – my body felt great – but rather I was pretty mentally foggy and was having a hard time focusing.  Luckily, it went away by the early afternoon.

I’ve done many days of various kinds of cleansing, including green juice fasting, Juice Feasting, water fasting, and the Master Cleanse (don’t recommend the latter), and witnessed thousands of people at the Tree of Life fast, have challenging fasts, euphoric fasts, a mix of both and everything in between, and an observation that stands out to me is this: the body will do exactly what it needs to.  There is no way to tell in advance whether this particular fast/cleanse will be challenging, or whether it will be easy.  There are many things we can do to help our bodies detox more efficiently (zeolites and systemic enzymes, colon hydrotherapy, sweating, skin brushing, etc.), and when people feel challenged, often it is because they haven’t used those tools adequately or frequently enough.  That being said, depending on what the body is doing, fasts can be challenging and they can be easy.  What it requires is faith in the body that what it is doing is for the best.  We can help it along, but it has its own wisdom and will prioritize exactly what it needs to do and will take as long as it needs to take.

A question from a reader:

Can I ask about the enemas please? How many litres of water do you use? I’m new to using enemas and use about 6 litres. Do you filter the water or use tap water? Thanks.  ~Jo

Hi Jo,

I usually use less than a quart of water, a full quart at the most.  I use the enema bags the Tree of Life sells, which only holds about a quart of water.  I’m kind of baffled that your body even holds that much water, actually….  I’ve done effective enemas with little water, even a 3rd of a quart.  Regarding the water – always, always use filtered water.  Your colon is very efficient at absorbing things and it will absorb some of the water, including the toxicity in it, if there is any.

That’s that for now, folks!  Write ya soon!
